Laurel is unusual in that it straddles Prince George's, Howard and Anne Arundel counties, and its housing spans nearly two centuries. The historic mill town core along Main Street has genuinely old buildings; around it sit decades of suburban and apartment development.

The old core needs the careful approach we bring to pre-war Catonsville — galvanized supply corroding from the inside, cast iron drainage narrowed by scale, plaster walls and non-standard fixture roughs. The newer development is conventional work.

Because the town crosses county lines, permitting depends on which side of the boundary a property sits. We confirm the jurisdiction before filing anything, and all three counties are areas we work in.

What we find in Laurel homes

Whole-House Repiping at a home in Laurel, MD
On a call in Laurel.

Nineteenth-century mill town core

Original galvanized and cast iron in buildings that have been altered by successive owners for over a century. Mixed-metal junctions are where a surprising share of leaks turn out to be.

Three-county straddle

Permitting depends on which side of the line a property sits. We confirm the jurisdiction before filing, and Prince George's, Howard and Anne Arundel are all areas we work in.

Apartment and rental density

A good deal of the housing here is rented. Shared drainage stacks mean a backup in one unit may be a building problem rather than that unit's fault.

Neighborhoods and landmarks we work around

We cover all of Laurel and the surrounding Prince George's County communities, including 20707, 20708, 20723. Areas we are in regularly:

  • Historic Main Street Laurel
  • Route 1 corridor
  • Patuxent River
  • Laurel MARC station
  • Laurel Park
  • Route 198

What Laurel customers tell us

Laurel property owners want somebody who can handle both an 1890s Main Street building and a 1990s townhouse. Those are genuinely different jobs and we do both.

I had an outstanding experience with Collins & Sons LLC. Daniel has done several projects at my home over the last 4 years. He has helped me with small projects (replacing a garbage disposal), large projects (renovating my patio) and random projects. No mat…

Plumbing questions from Laurel

Which county am I in for permits?

Laurel straddles Prince George's, Howard and Anne Arundel, so it depends on the parcel. We confirm the jurisdiction before filing anything — all three are areas we work in routinely.

My old house has losing pressure. What is it?

In a nineteenth-century or pre-war property, very likely galvanized supply corroding from the inside and narrowing. That said, a failed pressure reducing valve produces the same symptom far more cheaply, so we test first.

How far out is Laurel?

About twenty miles, which makes it one of the closer Prince George's County communities for us. We schedule work there regularly.
