Lutherville-Timonium is really two places joined at the hip. Lutherville proper has a genuine nineteenth-century core — a designated historic district of Victorian summer houses built when this was a rail retreat from Baltimore. Timonium is post-war and later suburban expansion along the York Road corridor.
We quote the two very differently. In old Lutherville the questions are the ones we deal with daily in pre-war Catonsville: what is behind the plaster, where can a new supply line actually run, and how much of the original galvanized is still doing the work. In Timonium it is copper reaching the pinhole bracket, cast iron drainage that has scaled, and water heaters coming due.
