Reisterstown has one of the older Main Streets in Baltimore County — a genuine eighteenth and nineteenth-century village core that grew up around the turnpike long before the suburbs reached it. Around that core sit several decades of newer residential development running out along Reisterstown Road.

The historic properties need the same approach we bring to the oldest Catonsville and Ellicott City buildings: understand what is there before adding to it, route around finished material rather than through it, and be realistic about what a modern upgrade requires in a building that was never designed for one.

The newer development is more conventional. Copper and PVC, proper venting, and problems that skew toward water heaters, fixture components and the hard water that affects every household in this part of Maryland.

What we find in Reisterstown homes

On a call in Reisterstown.

Eighteenth-century Main Street stock

Stone and heavy frame construction with almost no chase space. Routing new supply is a design problem before a mechanical one, and PEX flexibility is what makes upgrades possible without damage.

Suburban corridor development

The housing along Reisterstown Road spans several decades. Build year decides the diagnosis, so we ask before we quote rather than assuming from the address.

Well properties on the western edge

Some properties out toward the county line run on private wells. Water treatment there has to follow a real test rather than a regional assumption.

What Reisterstown customers tell us

Reisterstown customers with old houses want somebody who will slow down. Speed is the enemy in a building that has stood for two hundred years.

I had an outstanding experience with Collins & Sons LLC. Daniel has done several projects at my home over the last 4 years. He has helped me with small projects (replacing a garbage disposal), large projects (renovating my patio) and random projects. No mat…

Plumbing questions from Reisterstown

Can you work on an eighteenth-century house?

Yes. Old buildings are a large part of what we do. We plan the route before we cut, use flexible materials where rigid pipe would mean opening walls, and work carefully around original material.

Am I on public water or a well?

If you have a pressure tank in the basement and no water meter, you are on a well. If you get a county water bill, you are on public supply. We can confirm in seconds during any visit, and it changes the treatment conversation entirely.

Do you cover Glyndon and Chartley too?

Yes, along with the surrounding Reisterstown area. It is about thirteen miles from our Catonsville shop and we schedule work there regularly.
