Nobody should spend four figures on a pipe they have never seen. A camera inspection costs a small fraction of any sewer repair and it converts the whole conversation from opinion to evidence. You get to look at the inside of your own line, and so do we, and then the right decision is usually obvious.

How we work
1. Find or create access
An exterior cleanout is ideal. Where a house has none — common in older Catonsville construction — we can access through a pulled toilet or a basement cleanout, and we will discuss adding a permanent one.
2. Run the full length
From the access point out to the connection at the county main, recording throughout. Stopping short is how problems get missed.
3. Identify and locate defects
Roots, offsets, cracks, bellies, scale, grease, foreign objects and material transitions. Anything significant gets located and marked on the surface.
4. Explain it in plain language

What this looks like in Catonsville
If you are buying an older home in Catonsville, a sewer scope is the highest-value inspection you can add. Standard home inspections do not include one. The lateral is buried, expensive and entirely the buyer's problem after settlement — and in this town it is frequently seventy-year-old clay under a mature oak. We have seen that single inspection reshape more than one negotiation.
What we typically find in the older neighborhoods follows a pattern. Clay laterals with root intrusion at the joints, particularly through Oak Forest, Paradise, Westchester and around Ingleside. Cast iron interior stacks with heavy scale narrowing the bore. Transitions where a previous owner replaced a section in PVC and the joint between old and new is offset or poorly bedded.
Bellies deserve special mention because they are so easy to misread. Piedmont clay soil expands and contracts with our wet and dry cycles, and over decades that movement can settle a section of pipe into a low spot. On camera it looks like standing water. A shallow belly in an otherwise sound line may need nothing but occasional cleaning; a deep one is a repair. Telling the difference is the whole job.

No. Sewer and drain cameras work in open, non-pressurized pipe. Finding a leak in a pressurized supply line is a different discipline using acoustic and thermal equipment — which we also do.
