Damascus sits on the high ground of northern Montgomery County, close to both the Frederick and Howard County lines. It is rural in character — farmland, larger parcels, and a small town centre.
Elevation means colder winters than the DC-adjacent parts of the county, which puts freeze protection genuinely on the list. Crawl spaces, outbuildings and exposed runs are where January finds the weak points, and autumn is the sensible time to deal with it.
Almost everything outside the town centre is on a private well and septic, which puts treatment and pressure system work at the front of what we do here.

How do I stop pipes freezing in a crawl space?
Insulate the runs, seal air infiltration around pipe penetrations and rim joists, and use heat cable on the most exposed sections. Cold air blowing directly on a pipe does more damage than ambient cold.
My well pressure swings from strong to weak. Why?
