Shut off the main water valve immediately — if the pipe has split, thawing it is when the flooding starts. Then open the affected faucet and apply gentle heat working back from the tap. Never use an open flame.
How do I winterise a property I leave empty?
At minimum keep heat on at a low setting, shut off and drain exterior fixtures, and insulate exposed runs. For a genuinely unoccupied winter, a proper drain-down is the safe answer — we can do it and reverse it in spring.
