Why does my water smell like rotten eggs?
On a well, usually sulfur bacteria or dissolved hydrogen sulfide. On public supply it is more often a reaction with the water heater anode rod. The two have completely different fixes, which is why we identify the supply before diagnosing.
Can I have a softener with a septic system?
Usually yes, with proper sizing. A metered demand unit that regenerates only when needed puts a far lighter load on a septic field than an old timer-based softener. We configure it rather than installing a default.
My pressure swings from strong to weak. Is the pump failing?
Most often not. A waterlogged pressure tank that has lost its air charge produces exactly that symptom, as does a failing pressure switch. Both are far cheaper than a pump, and we check them first.
