Lisbon grew up along the old National Pike and it still has the shape of a turnpike village — older buildings close to the road, with farmland and newer homes on acreage spreading out behind.
It is the far western corner of Howard County and among the highest ground we work on, which makes freeze protection a genuine priority rather than an afterthought. Uninsulated crawl spaces, garage-wall runs and outbuilding supply lines are where our winter calls from this area come from.
At about twenty miles it is toward the edge of our range. We schedule work here rather than offering same-day, and we say so honestly when somebody calls about an emergency.

How do I prepare an older house here for winter?
Disconnect hoses and drain the bibs, insulate exposed runs in crawl spaces and garages, seal air leaks around pipe penetrations, and let a faucet drip on the coldest nights. If a section has frozen before, it will freeze again — that one needs heat cable or re-routing.
Do you travel to Lisbon?
Yes, for scheduled work. It is about twenty miles from Catonsville, toward the edge of our range. We are honest on the phone about emergency response times rather than letting you wait and hope.
What should I do the moment I find a frozen pipe?
Shut off the main water valve. If the pipe has already split, thawing it is when the flooding starts. Then open the affected tap and apply gentle heat from the tap end backward. Never use an open flame.
